A taste of

History

“There is a great feeling of history and tradition that a visit to Lerma, Spain brings. The experience ensures that everyone who leaves there feels like family. It is with great honor that we share a taste of that history through our wines.”
Jeffrey Lerma, Founder

Our Wines

Bodegas Lerma is probably one of the most accredited wineries of the singular D.O. Arlanza. It has 6 hectares of centuries-old vineyards near the winery. The predominant grape variety is Tempranillo and there are also Grenache and Albillo plantations.

The wines produced by Bodegas Lerma are modern in style, although they continue to maintain the tradition of the Arlanza region and pay close attention to the terroir. The result is fruity wines with subtle touches of wood, soft well-assembled tannins and great personality.

Lerma

Crianza

Wine of a dark and intense cherry red color, with garnet rims. On the nose it is a complex wine with an interesting mix of black fruit and elegant wood. Fruits such as cassis and woods such as cedar stand out. In addition, the very typical liquorice of Tempranillo is present. On the palate it is fatty and structured, a tasty wine with an extraordinary breadth.

The winemaking tradition in the Arlanza region dates back to the 10th century, from which historical accounts of the existence of vineyards in the hands of monasteries are preserved. It should be noted: In the 12th century, the monastery of Santa María de Bujedo de Juarros acquired vineyards in the Ribera del Arlanza and Duero for its supply, completing them with vineyards in Quintanilla del Agua.

According to Fray Valentín: “all the towns between Arlanzón and Arlanza used some of their payments to vineyards… The county family enjoyed vineyards and the Arlanza monks pampered them in the Lerma area, especially in the Santa Inés priory. Covarrubias praises its own wines, and the abbess demands from each neighbor of her jurisdiction, a well of wine ».
